First published Monday 8 December 2014 Western Telegraph by Jenny Hanson CROWDS flocked to join in the festivities at the switching on of Milford Haven’s Christmas lights. Well over 1000 people joined in the lantern-lit parade, led by the Milford Haven Town Band and accompanied by the stars of Frozen and the Torch Theatre’s production of Cinderella. From the balcony of the Town Hall, Mayor Councillor Eric Harries welcomed the crowds and was joined by his Chaplain and Father Christmas. The Neyland Ladies Choir set the scene by singing carols, and Army, Sea and Marine cadets helped out by marshalling the crowds. Jim Hughes of Radio Pembrokeshire was the perfect compere. After competition winners Archie George and Tiffany Kaur Dhammu switched on the Christmas Lights, Father Christmas was whisked to the Council Chamber - which had been beautifully decorated by pupils from Milford Haven School – to meet the children of the town. Deputy Mayor Cllr Stephen Joseph described the well-attended event as “absolutely fantastic”. “Community spirit in Milford is better than anywhere else in the county. It’s a very special town,” said Cllr Joseph. “The Town Council, the Round Table and everyone else involved pull together to make this a really wonderful event. It just gets bigger and better every year.”
