Citizens Award 2014
Citizens Award winners for 2014 were entertained in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall to celebrate their achievements and receive
awards
Welcome to this evening presentation of Citizens Awards of Merit for 2014.
We take the opportunity to recognise those individuals who have made a contribution to the well being and prestige of the town, often over
many years. It gives me great pleasure to announce the names of this year’s recipients and to thank them for their wonderful work. I must
emphasise that the recommendations for each awardee has been very comprehensive and detailed and I will be delivering a brief précis. In
2006 the Town Council introduced a new Citizen’s Award to recognise the youth activity within the town.
As well as those shown below the Youth Award was given to PO Cadet Callum Snape but he was unable to attend on the evening.
Petty Officer Cadet Callum Snape has been a member of Milford Haven Sea Cadets since June 2008 when he joined at the age of eleven
years old.Through this time he gained many proficiencies and qualifications in communications, rowing, seamanship, camp craft and
meteorology, to name but a few.
During 2011 he was the Mayor’s Cadet, an appointment which he carried out with great honour. He also qualified in a number of areas
including his RYA Powerboat Level Two and became a Cadet Drill Instructor.
Unfortunately, he is unable to be present this evening as he is competing in an area First Aid competition. I will, therefore, take the
opportunity to present him with his Youth Citizens Award at a later date.

Mayoress
Pat runs the wonderful service “Talking
Mercury”. She was instrumental in
forming this service and is with the
volunteers every Thursday morning,
going through the local papers with all
the top news items, recording them and
getting them ready for sending to all with impaired vision.
Pat has done a lot to raise money for this venture (they rely on
donations) – even skydiving
