13. THE MARKET
It was considered by the 'Lords of the Admiralty' that the new town needed a market. In 1857 by "Charter of the LORD HIGH ADMIRAL of the United Kingdom of Great Britain" the new market was established allowing the Freemen of the Borough, the right to trade within the Borough of Pembroke, which included the Dockyard. The market was purchased by the Borough Council in 1881. This building has now been refurbished
