33. MEMORIAL PARK
The Memorial Park was constructed by the then Corporation of the Borough of
Pembroke with the help of much voluntary labour by the residents of Pembroke
Dock, "In Grateful Memory of the Fallen Heroes of Pembroke Dock who gave
their lives in the Great War, 1914 - 1918" and was opened on Saturday 2nd
May 1925;The following is an extract from the official programme for the
day:
"The Mayor and Corporation, Magistrates, Naval and Military Units,
Ex-service Men, Police, Public Bodies, Friendly and Trade Societies, Clubs
and the General Public will assemble at Pembroke Dock Market at 2.15 p.m.,
where a procession will be formed. "At 2.30pm., the Procession will proceed
through Bush Street to the main entrance of the MEMORIAL PARK, when the
REVEILLE will be sounded by BUGLERS OF THE ROYAL WELCH FUSILIERS".
Created as a memorial to the dead of the 1914-1918 War. It is a well
maintained area of trees, flowers and grass, with a children's play area,
tennis courts and bowling green.
