Albion Square Pembroke Dock

 23. ALBION SQUARE
Was once the centre of the town's commercial life. Prominently placed in the centre of the square is a memorial lamp stand erected in 1914 to commemorate the Royal Dockyard's centenary. The flowery language of the inscription is worthy of note. On the south side of the square is Albion Square Board School (circa 1876-1896) which catered for girls and infants. The Albion School is now under the control of Pembrokeshire Collage and has replaced the Coronation Centre (Old British School) as the further education unit in Pembroke Dock. The boys went to the 'Old British School' in Meyrick Street. On the southern side of Albion Square in Charlton Place lying beyond the school was the one time County Police Headquarters, jail and pound.
