14th May 2009 witnessed the procedure of Mayor Making at
the first meeting of the council year in the Meyrick
Suite Pater Hall Pembroke Dock. Councillor Pam George
was inaugurated for 2009/2010, taking over from
Councillor Ron Watts,
Councillor
George will now serve her eighth year as mayor in
2009/2010. As the only remaining and continuously
serving original member of the Town Council her voice is
listened to with respect. She chairs the Tourism
committee and sits on the Twinning committee, is a
school Governor for Pembroke Dock Community school and a
trustee of the Pater Hall Community Trust and trustee of
the town band.
Councillor Maureen Colgan was voted in as the Deputy
Mayor, Councillor Colgan who has four sons, three
daughters in law and seven grandchildren. A new
councillor, Maureen has got stuck in with a number of
roles – she is on the Planning sub committee, a Governor
of St Mary’s School and a trustee of the Borough Silver
Band and a member of Age Concern. She has long been a
member of St John’s Choir and also The Griffon Choir and
she was already a Governor of Pennar Community School
before becoming a town councillor. Other voluntary work
includes the WRVS and Friends of South Pembrokeshire
Hospital. Other interests include theatre and travel.
