Doug, another of the new councillors, is passionate
about Pembrokeshire and about Pembroke Dock in
particular, a Town that he feels is under-resourced. He
has given an undertaking to work hard for the residents
of the Town and his wife Jill is editor of “Central
News”. To this end he sits on four committees; being
involved with the Police Authority Consultative
Committee and is the Council representative on the local
Police Forum. In addition, given his tolerance of ‘heavy
reading’ he is on the Welsh Assembly Consultative
Committee and for “litter” relief is involved with the
Environmental Action Team.
With extensive qualifications in Management, Personnel
and Health and Safety Doug worked in the Construction
Industry and in Education and Training. He has chaired
National Committees relating to Construction Industry
NVQ’s and in the Development of Training for Adults.
Hobbies include Beach walking, Reading, Creative
Writing, Quizzes, Genealogy and Jazz (a drummer whilst
at University in London). Previously he was a keen rugby
player and an active volunteer.
